When it comes to pregnancy, there are a number of changes
that happen to a woman's body. Of course, many of these are spurred by helping
to grow the baby, but many of these can cause unusual aches and pains for
women.
There are three essential things that a pregnant woman can
do each day to keep these away and stay comfortable, even during the last weeks
of pregnancy:
1) Pelvic Tilts
Suffering from some back pain? This serves as the perfect
solution for that. Pelvic tilts help stretch the lower back while strengthening
the pelvic floor and abdomen, both of which contain important muscle groups for
labor.
To do pelvic tilts, stand straight with your back against a
wall and relax your spine. Breathe in deeply while you move the small of your
back to the wall. Exhale. Repeat the exercise for about five minutes. It is
recommended that you do these several times a day.
2) Align the hips
At night, do you find it painful to turn over? The
sacroiliac joint (SIJ), which is hyper-mobile during pregnancy, may be causing
this pain. To prevent this from happening, keep a pillow between your knees
while on your side and when you turn over in bed. This will help to keep your
hips aligned, while compressing and stabilizing the SIJ.
3) Walk
Walking serves as a great exercise during pregnancy for a
number of reasons. For one, it helps to maintain the strength in your back,
which can help reduce subsequent pain. In addition, it can strengthen your
pelvis and hips. It serves as a low-impact exercise that can help improve your
fitness.
